WABARA is an original breed developed by Keiji Kunieda. Based on the concept of “nurturing natural beauty”, they are produced without applying excessive manipulation to accommodate distribution. They feature soft petals, graceful, elegant stems and leaves, and flowers with gentle neutral tints. Their delicate appearance belies unimaginable sturdiness. Grown in an environment that is as natural as possible, like flowers that bloom in the wild, regardless of the location, and the flower species with which they cohabit, they cause no disharmony. As plants with a place in an ecosystem, they coexist with the surrounding life, and dedicate themselves to their next lives. This very process lies at the root of the brand known as WABARA, and is the creation of Keiji Kunieda.

Born in 1981 as the eldest son of Keiji Kunieda, Kenichi became familiar with roses from an early age. After two years of study in Germany and working experience in the corporate world, at the age of 25, he joined Rose Farm KEIJI, which was operated by his father. Subsequently, in 2014, he launched Rose Universe Co., Ltd. In addition to acting as CEO, as a producer he supports the establishment of rose cultivation environments and techniques that Keiji Kunieda considers to be ideal. Apart from globally promoting projects that embody the WABARA philosophy and collaboration with partners who share the same ideas, he energetically engages in giving contributing the potential of WABARA to the ecosystem it occupies through such endeavours as the Lake Biwa redevelopment project and flower education programs.

Roses were originally flowers that bloomed in the wild. Plants that grow in the mountains or forests cycle through life within that ecosystem and coexist harmoniously with their surroundings. Following this model, without excessive human intervention, and by applying water, soil, air and microorganisms, Rose Farm KEIJI has created a cultivation environment that is as close as possible to natural hills and fields. At the same time, the Farm is a part of its ecosystem, and in its practices seeks to do whatever it can to create better cycles while reducing the human burden on the natural environment.
